Since God has saved us, made us holy and calls us to be holy we must avoid any and all forms of sexual immorality.

1.     Avoiding sexual immorality is the will of God for our lives.

"Sexual immorality refers to any form of illicit sexual behavior outside of what is prescribed by God in his Word. This encompasses both the actions of the body and the thoughts of the heart. Sex according to God finds it perfect fulfillment only in the marriage relationship between a man and a woman." — Mark Howell

"Principle One: Sexual activity is to be between a man and a woman (Gen 2:24). This rules out the extreme perversions of bestiality (Exod 22:19; Lev 18:23; 20:15-15; Deut 27:21) and homosexuality (Lev 18:22; 20:13; Rom 1:24-27; 1 For 6:9; 1 Tim 1:10; Jude 7). This principle definitively answers the question ‘who?’"

"Principle Two: Sexual activity is to be after marriage and not before (Heb 13:4). This prohibits any premarital sex and addresses the inquiry of ‘when?’"

"Principle Three: Sexual activity is for mutual gratification between legitimate marriage partners (1 For 7:3-5). This forbids incest (Lev 18:6-18; 20:11-14, 17-21; Deut 22:30; 27:20, 22-23; 1 Cor 5:150 and adultery (Lev 20:10; Deut 23:17-18; Prov 2:16-22; 1 For 6:15-20). It answers the question ‘why?’"  —Richard Myhue

2.     Avoiding sexual immorality requires self-control.

"Abstaining begins with “possessing” our own bodies, that is knowing our own bodies—how our sex drives function, what weakens our self-control, and what strengthens it. Possessing our bodies involves admitting temptations we can’t handle and avoiding those enticing situations. Certain conversations with coworkers may lure us, and friendly touches may be too personal—avoid those situations. Some films, books, or magazines may ignite lustful passions, and some settings may provide opportunities for compromise-stay away from them. No one remains pure by accident." — Chuck Swindoll

3.     Avoiding sexual immorality shows honor and respect for others.

4.     Avoiding sexual immorality honors God.

We will not do this perfectly this side of heaven, but that must never discourage us from repenting when we fail, asking for forgiveness, and then getting back up and seeking to live sexually pure lives that honor God.
