Our Mission

We exist to glorify God by building a community of believers who are actively knowing, applying, and proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Leadership

We are an elder-governed church. Our elders are responsible for providing direction for the church and making decisions that are in accordance with God’s will for our church—including gathering input from our members for all major decisions.

Aaron Anderson – Lead Pastor

Aaron grew up in a small town in Eastlake, Michigan. After becoming a Christian, Aaron moved to Virginia and joined Sovereign Grace Church of Chesapeake, where the local leadership recognized and affirmed his call to full-time pastoral ministry.

After graduating from the Sovereign Grace Pastors College, Aaron returned to Chesapeake, VA where he served on staff as a pastor-in-training. In 2005, Aaron moved to Atlanta with his family to become part of the pastoral team of Sovereign Grace Church Woodstock. Aaron married his middle school sweetheart, Sara, and they have four children: Mea, Charlie, Ben, and Jimmy.

Core Values

Our core values are a great way for you to learn more about our church.

We are unashamedly committed to the gospel.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).

We are passionate about loving God in our everyday ordinary lives.

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

We are devoted to the truth of God's Word and believe it is the authoritative, inerrant standard for all we do.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).”Every word of God proves true” (Proverbs 30:5).

We actively pursue the presence of God through the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit.

“And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit” (Ephesians 5:18).

We are committed to watching our lives and doctrine closely.

“Keep a close watch on yourself and on the teaching. Persist in this, for by so doing you will save both yourself and your hearers” (1 Timothy 4:16).

We are devoted to pursuing biblical fellowship because we need one another.

“But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

We are committed to equipping families, believing the family to be God's primary context to reach the next generation with the gospel.

“One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts” (Psalm 145:4).

We humbly seek to serve God and others.

“Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2:3).

We take the Great Commission seriously by being witnesses of the gospel, both personally and corporately.

“And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nation, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age'” (Matthew 28:18-20).

We are committed to the local church and to planting local churches.

“To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever” (Ephesians 3:21). “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

We are convinced everything belongs to God; therefore, we are called to be generous stewards of His possessions.

“The earth is the LORD’s and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein” (Psalm 24:1). “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal” (Matthew 6:19-20).

We give ourselves to prayer because we are dependent upon God to accomplish His will.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5).

Statement of Faith

Sovereign Grace Church’s statement of faith provides a clear, simple, and biblical foundation for all we do. SGC is a church centered-on and shaped by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Although we do not require our members to agree on every point, the confession below forms our theological DNA.

Partnership

We are privileged to be a part of Sovereign Grace Churches, a family of more than 80 churches that advances the gospel of Jesus Christ by planting and supporting churches around the world for the glory of God.

Our partnership with Sovereign Grace Churches positions us for growth as a local church by providing oversight of our local church, ongoing training through conferences, equipping of men through the Pastors College, and a gospel partnership committed to expansion through church planting.
