Embrace Your Calling in the Church

1 Peter 4:7-11

I.    Be self-controlled and sober-minded.

II.   Keep loving one another.

III.  Show hospitality to one another.

IV.  Serve one another.

PROP: Since the end of all things is at hand, we should seek to embrace our ordinary calling to be faithful in the church.

“The hour is evil. The devil is active. And our minds must get ready for the onslaught of the last days.” —David Helm

“We need consciously to see our homes as a gift to be opened and shared, rather than castles to be retreated into and the drawbridge pulled up. And we need to do this joyfully, not grumbling.” —Juan Sanchez

“Hospitality is not something we do overly pragmatically. We do not practice hospitality “to get conversations.” We practice hospitality because it is right. We practice hospitality because we are God’s people. We share God’s goodness through our homes because God has shown his goodness to us. His grace overflows the threshold of our homes.” —David Helm
