Christians Won’t Lose

Whether we live or we die, we must seek to honor Christ as we rest assured that we won’t lose.

  1. Our greatest desire must be that Christ is honored (v. 18-20).

“Christ has disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him.”—Colossians 2:15

  1. Every day that we are alive, we have an opportunity for gospel ministry (v. 21-22, 24-26).

“…If I can but live and die serving and honoring the Lord Jesus, it will make no difference to me whether I am eaten by Cannibals or by worms; and in the Great Day my Resurrection body will rise…in the likeness of our Risen Redeemer.” —John Paton (NOTE: This is a paraphrase of the quote Phil shared last week.)

  1. On the day that we die, we get to be with Jesus forever (v. 23).

Come Thou Font of Every Blessing

“Oh that day when freed from sinning

I shall see Thy lovely face

Full arrayed in blood-washed linen

How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace

Come, my Lord, no longer tarry

Bring Thy promises to pass

For I know Thy pow’r will keep me

Till I’m home with Thee at last.”

(V.4. alt words by Bob Kauflin)

“I am going to him whom my soul hath loved, or rather who hath loved me with an everlasting love; which is the whole ground of all my consolation…I am leaving the ship of the church in a storm, but whilst the great Pilot is in it the loss of a poor under-rower will be inconsiderable. Live and pray and hope and wait patiently and do not despair; the promise stands invincible that he will never leave thee nor forsake thee.” —John Owen
